Overview
Concept
Chōwa is a VR demo game. It has been developed to demonstrate the hand tracking and the Oculus Touch controller interface implementation for Meta Quest. The player can switch between both input possibilities while playing
Morph Mechanic
The morph mechanic transforms the companion into a root, which allows island customization. Eight parameters (four visual and four sound-related) are supposed to create the illusion of many different places.

Sound Programming
Based on MIDI tracks, several instruments were exported and implemented. Players can change the instruments of each instrument layer (guitar, key instrument, percussion, and wind instrument). Besides well-known instruments like the piano, other unusual instruments like a ‘blow bottle’ are included.
Trailer
The gameplay consists mainly of movement (exploration) and object interactions. A companion functions as an inventory system by providing eight slots. The inventory system allows you to transport objects between multiple islands. The collected items can be thrown into a cauldron to trigger the companion’s morph animation.
